FCBT has teamed up with Cleaner Climate to allow travellers to offset their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from air travel.
Through Cleaner Climate's international renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, you can directly contribute to programs that help offset the carbon emitted from your flight.
Calculating the carbon emissions from your flight and finding out how much it will cost to offset these emissions is simple. Just click the icon located at the top right corner of this page to access the online calculator and follow the prompts.
If you choose to offset, you will be directed to a secure site where you can make your offset payment. Once completed, you will receive an offset certificate from Cleaner Climate verifying your carbon offset.
Cleaner Climate's primary international project is a 1.2 MW wind farm facility located at the World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE) in Karnataka, India. The wind farm has been developed under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and is currently providing clean energy to one of the world's most polluted countries.
Cleaner Climate is also working on one of the most challenging methodologies under CDM where they will install, monitor and replace (if broken or faulty) in excess of 20 million energy saving light-bulbs throughout South Africa. This project will employ many unskilled community locals and reduce the heavy load on the electricity grid which is continuing to cause extended blackouts throughout South Africa.
Climate's Carbon projects are either governed by the regulated market (Kyoto compliant) or other government approved schemes such as Australia's Greenhouse Friendly™ scheme operated by the Federal Government of Australia.
Developing projects under these schemes ensures that the emissions reductions satisfy stringent criteria set up by the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Committee (UNFCCC) or the Australian Government. In addition, all projects are monitored by an independent third party to ensure that they produce verified carbon reductions.
Yes. Planes generate greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) that are released into the atmosphere.
You can offset the carbon emitted during your flight.
No. You will only offset your personal component of the flight. This takes into consideration the embodied energy of the aircraft, Radioactive Forcing Index, class of ticket and fuel emission of aircraft.
When you buy a carbon offset, your money is used to fund energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in developing countries.
Currently in Australia there is not a compulsory carbon tax on flights. It is your choice to offset the carbon emitted from your air travel.
Cleaner Climate is an international integrated Carbon Solutions provider offering an entire range of Carbon solutions to companies and consumers wishing to incorporate environmental initiatives and effective climate change behavioral strategies into their portfolio or lifestyle.
Yes. Climate's Carbon projects are either governed by the regulated market under the UNFCCC* (Kyoto compliant) or other government approved schemes such as Australia's Greenhouse Friendly™ scheme operated by the Federal Government of Australia.
Cleaner Climate is involved in numerous energy efficiency and renewable energy projects internationally. Using a basket approach these projects include landfill remediation (extracting methane from landfill), effective manure management, residential energy efficiency and industrial applications involving large waste streams. These projects are being implemented in South Africa, Thailand, Mexico and India and all contribute to a cleaner, low-carbon environment.
